Ambassador Abdul Salik Khan assumed his responsibilities
as Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan
on February 25, 2015.
Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to the Republic
of Kazakhstan, Ambassador Khan served as Director
General (China), Director General (Afghanistan) and
Director General East Asia Pacific (EAP) in Ministry of
Foreign Affairs from January 2013 to January 2015.
He is a career diplomat and has also served as Consul
General of Pakistan, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2010-Dcember
2012) and Minister/Deputy Head of Mission in Beijing,
Ambassador Khan holds a Masterís degree in Literature
and diploma in National Security. He also attended
Arabic language course from American University, Cairo.
In his professional life at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, he remained, Director China, Japan, Korea (CJK)
(2005-2006), Director Gulf Region (GR) (2004-2005),
Deputy Chief of Protocol, Camp Office Quetta (1996-97),
Desk Officer/Acting Director Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh
and Sri Lanka (NBBS)(1995-96), Desk Officer United
Nations Desk (1990-91), Desk Officer, Canada & Latin
His other overseas assignments included; Oman (1991-95),
Germany (1997-2000) and Yemen (2000-2004).
He is an ardent reader.
He is married to Fauzia Durrani Salik and has three
children (two daughters and a son).
