  Overseas Pakistanis can now vote online for By-elections 2018  
 

 

 

 

The Embassy of Pakistan, Astana would like to inform the Pakistani community in Kazakhstan that on the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan and as per law, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is conducting Overseas Voting through Internet Voting Process in the upcoming bye-elections in 37 constituencies, scheduled to be held on 14th October, 2018. The list of these constituencies along with detailed mechanism of internet voting is available on the following links:

According to the ECP rules of overseas voting, eligible voters should possess a valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), valid Machine Readable Passport (MRP), and a valid e-mail address.

All Pakistani citizens in Kazakhstan are required to get themselves registered between 1 – 15th September 2018 on the above mentioned link to cast their vote in upcoming bye-elections through internet voting.

Please Note:

As per Section I-94 (2) of the Election Act, 2017, "Overseas Pakistani means e citizen of Pakistan under the Pakistan Citizenship Act, 1951 (II of 1951) or holder of National identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis under the National Database and Registration Authority ordinance, 2000 (VIII of 2000) who is working or residing abroad permanently or temporarily for not less than six months.

In view of above, it is stated that, under section 94 of Election Act 2017, the i-Voting System would not allow to register any Pakistani citizen who does not possess the NICOP and Machine Readable Passport (MRP).
